This image shows what the actor will see once he is sat the table. When the film is recorded you will also be able to see the other actor opposite him. This shot will be one of the main shots and will be very important that it is done correctly. As you will see the conversation between both actors also the main shot reverse shot. Plus you will see more facel expressions too.

Working in media production contexts – professional practice

October 11, 2009

1. How did you manage the group dynamics, equipment and resources, interim deadlines and the necessarily collaborative nature of film-making?

I feel that as a group we managed all of these points really well. We worked as a good team in which we all contributed to ideas, the use of props and how the film would look when its finished. All of us took part in filming the video as a rough idea even though we are not acting in the final outcome. This video rounded up the basic idea and helped us with what needed improving.

 2. What health and safety and logistical problems did you solve?

The only health and safety problems that we had to solve was where the furniture was set out in the location in which we filmed. This needed to allow enough space for the actors to move without causing any injuries to themselves and for the filming to take place.

3. How did you organise your human resources – the people involved in the production?

As a group we already knew what sort of characters were needed in order to make the filming as realistic as possible, and we based this on the people we knew. This happened to be my brother and one of his close mates. They were up for acting for us, we also felt that we did not want to be acting in this film as it may not have turned out as good or looked as realistic as it could of.

4. How did you manage actors, locations, costumes and props?

The location of the filming was farely simple, it took place at the school itself, therefore not alot of hassle to get to or to film. The actors in the filming were close friends and a family member which meant that they could easily be contacted for when they were needed and ideas could be discussed with them if necessary. The costumes were based on the clothung that the actors already had meaning that we could use their clothing and make it fit into what we were filming. In our group we gathered the props together from what everyone was able to bring in from home, this was important to complete the filming and improve it.

My Preliminary Task

October 9, 2009

Planning my preliminary task i had to think how could we make a short film piece with someone entering and leaving a room after a few lines of dialogue. With my group we came up with the idea of a blind date, but not as you think. We have a lot to think about in making it convincing so we made three storyboards presenting what dialogue will be said, the character movements and the camera angles. We will be adding different camera shots like 180 degree rule, shot reverse shot and match on action. For our background noises we were thinking of some sort of ticking to resemble a timer, also having little finishing touches to make the film more realistic like adding a poster or a sign on the door. We thought that instead of having a full quick conversation we will make it more about the facial expressions and reactions about the mix up of dates. With the dialogue we havent fully decided on what they will say but we have a rough idea about what they might say and the reactions, but the most the characters will say is about two sentences each. When filming we will properly trial and error the filming as we need to get every angle right, lighting and sounds. so far we have done a rough filming of what camera angles we would like and the movement of the characters. We also have taken photos at the view of the character of the surrounding they will see.

This is the second camera shot. This will show the date as he enters through the door. He will be looking straight for the table in which his date is seated.

This is the view that the character will see at the beginning of the film piece.

This is the view the character will see when he goes to walk into the dating room. we thought it would be interesting and you get a better feel into the character if you see from his point of view. Some of the shots we will do will be shown from that character’s view. This is only a rough photograph of the layout at the start of the film.
