A rough outline plan for the opening 2 minutes of a film.

January 22, 2010

– Marcus on piano opening.

– Marcus closes piano, then gets into bed…looks at a picture of me on his phone then puts his phone down, then switches off the light (everything goes black)

– The dream begins…

– Introducing the dream with ‘wheel, 4 spokes’ (windows movie maker transition)

– Marcus is dreaming about life with me…

The dream has a mixture of flashing still and moving images.

 – Alex’s picture of a rose in a pool

– Marcus at a bus stop he see’s me walking past. I don’t notice him.

– Flash up of my face

– Me laughing

– Me and Marcus dancing together… him in suit, me in a long dress.

– Ending with me and Marcus sitting at the bus stop bundled up, and then I kiss him on the cheek and walk away…

– Fade out transition

– Fade in transition to show Marcus waking up

– Flash to me and Marcus being at school, I finally say ‘hi Marcus’ and then walk away…

– End on Marcus’s face smiling.

THE END.

Evaluation of the Preliminary task.

January 6, 2010

1. How did you manage the group dynamics, equipment and resources, interim deadlines and the necessarily collaborative nature of film making?

– Myself and Holly missed the deadline as we thought we was finished but then realised that we had missed out 2 of the main camera angles. To get this work finished we did so after school hours as we didn’t want to get behind with our second task. Managing to access equipment was easy as we could access it all from our sixth form. At first we had problems with structuring a story board and thinking of something to do, but after a while we got used to filming, editing and posting to the blog and in our next film we should easily be able to do everything more quickly.

2. What health and safety and logistical problems did you solve?

– There wasn’t any health and safety issues as we were filming in a class room and wasn’t using anything potentially harmful.

3. How did you organise your human resources?

– As two of the people involved in the filming process (myself and Holly Smith) are in the same class it was easy for us both to get what work we could do without the other actor done easily. However as Marcus Wiseman is in the year above it was harder for us all to find the spare time where we was all not busy with other lessons, this didn’t cause a major problem however, because we decided on doing some bits of filming and editing after school hours.

4. How did you manage actors, locations, costumes and props?

– This was all easy to use because are loacation was our school and therefore all we had to do was look for an empty classroom. As for actors, myself and Marcus Wiseman are both media students (marcus is in year 13) so therefore he was able to help myself and Holly Smith out with the acting. Costumes were the actors own clothes so these will not cause a problem to access again when we come to re-film pieces. The props were either actors own or the schools property which will be accessable when we come to re-film.

two minute opening credits. (newest task)

December 16, 2009

Here are some possible idea’s for the latest task:

  • The beggining of a horror movie where everything is dark, quiet and scary with big titles zooming in.
  • A romantic film where there is soft sounds and we could use non-diagetic sounds for effect.

Genre.

December 16, 2009

My group couldn’t really think of a specific genre which our preliminary task would fall under, therefore this is still undecided until we can think of a suitable genre which fits in well with the preliminary task! 🙂

Music/Sounds

December 9, 2009

Within our task, we have planned to keep the diegetic sounds present as this makes the short piece look more convincing. As it is set in a school there us bound to be noises going on in the background. Also the sound of doors opening and shuting will be present. When we have finished the final piece we will look for a suitable piece of music to add to our preliminary task, this will be a non-diegetic sound.

Mistakes We Have Made.

December 4, 2009

My group had finally finished filming, but when we came to editing it, we realised that we had left out the vital shots which needed to be included in this task. We had done the match on action, but later found we had left out the 180 degree shot and also the shot reverse shot. We have decided to go film some bits again and will soon finish the editing of our perliminary task. We also found that our task lacks verisimilitude as the teacher who is played by marcus wiseman is not wearing a shirt and tie, which in reality we would expect a teacher to be wearing a shirt and tie to show his authority and power over the students, as we had already filmed the majority of the task we decided to make it a non school uniform day as this would explain the teachers ‘dressing down.’ In future filming I will try to ensure that all characters are in costumes which we would expect them to this, so then the film is less confusing to try and understand what is going on.

This is the door in which the teacher has to open to get to the student who is waiting for him insde whilst writing lines. This is where the main piece of filming gets underway.

What Teri See’s

This is what Teri see’s when she is sitting down in the opening of the scene, the camera is over her shoulder and the camera gives the effect of what Teri is seeing.
